State Water Plan-Regional Water Plan Advisory Council

The Interstate Stream Commission appointed members of the State Water Plan – Regional Water Plan Advisory Council in the summer of 2003 to develop a relationship with New Mexico’s diverse regional communities and to understand their perspectives on water as well as the perspective of the state as a whole.

The Advisory Council will discuss topics and develop recommendations on procedures for resolving differences between the State Water Plan and Regional Water Plans. It will also work together to develop strategies for the implementation of regional water plans and discuss recommendations for funding the work to be done.

The Advisory Council consists of representatives from 16 water planning regions throughout New Mexico. Each member will participate in roundtable discussions to represent the interests of their particular region and develop an understanding of the needs of that region.

The Advisory Council was originally called the Ad-hoc Committee.
