La Plata River Compact Administration

La Plata River Compact – This compact, signed in 1922 and approved by Congress in 1925, provides for the equitable distribution of the waters of the La Plata River system between Colorado and New Mexico.

Hesperus Station and Interstate Station flow data – Much of the data used to account deliveries to New Mexico pursuant to the La Plata River Compact are available via remote sensing. Flows at the Hesperus Station include flows in the river at the Hesperus gage plus diversions around the Hesperus gage, and flows at the Interstate Station include flows in the river at the Stateline gage plus diversions around the Stateline gage.
