Gila Settlement
| The Gila Settlement, part of the Central Arizona Project, was approved by Congress and signed by the President Bush in December 2004. The settlement provides New Mexico 140,000 acre feet of water from the Gila Basin in any ten years. The settlement also provides the ability to divert that water without complaint from downstream pre-1968 water rights in Arizona. New Mexico will receive $66 million to $128 million in non-reimbursable federal funding. | ||
