
Well Driller and Drill Rig Supervisor
Continuing Education
The Office of the State Engineer adopted a continuing education program for well drillers and drill rig supervisors on August 31, 2005. The continuing education requirements are part of the Rules and Regulations Governing Well Driller Licensing; Construction, Repair and Plugging of Wells (see Subsection C of 19.27.4.20 NMAC and Subsection C of 19.27.4.27 NMAC).
During each two year licensing or registration period, a licensed well driller or registered drill rig supervisor shall complete a minimum of eight continuing education credit hours approved by the Office of the State Engineer. The continuing education credit hours shall relate to well drilling. The continuing education requirements are waived for the renewal of a license or registration that expires in 2006. For the renewal of a license or registration that expires in 2007, the continuing education requirements have been reduced to four credit hours.
POLICY ON CONTINUING EDUCATION
On May 7, 2008, the Office of the State Engineer adopted a revised policy on the Continuing Education Program for well drillers and drill rig supervisors. To access the policy, click on the link below.
For continuing education credits to be accepted during the renewal of a license or registration, the continuing education classes shall be pre-approved by the Office of the State Engineer. The Office of the State Engineer pre-approves all courses for continuing education credits. It is the responsibility of each licensed well driller or registered drill rig supervisor to verify that a course they plan to take has been approved by the Office of the State Engineer for continuing education credits. INFORMATION FOR COURSE PROVIDERS
OSE Policy # WR-09-2006 lists the requirements that must be met for course approval. The entity providing or sponsoring the course or other training shall submit an application for course approval to the Office of the State Engineer at least 60 days before the course is to be offered. The application for course approval shall be on a form acceptable to the Office of the State Engineer.
CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION
The entity sponsoring the course or other training shall provide each person attending the course with a Certificate of Course Completion. The Certificate of Course Completion shall be on a form acceptable to the Office of the State Engineer and shall be provided to attendees at the end of the course. It is the responsibility of each licensed well driller or registered drill rig supervisor to request a Certificate of Course Completion for each course they take.
