The Office of the State Engineer adopted a continuing education program for well drillers and drill rig supervisors on August 31, 2005. The continuing education requirements are part of the Rules and Regulations Governing Well Driller Licensing; Construction, Repair and Plugging of Wells (see Subsection C of 19.27.4.20 NMAC and Subsection C of 19.27.4.27 NMAC).

During each two year licensing or registration period, a licensed well driller or registered drill rig supervisor shall complete a minimum of eight continuing education credit hours approved by the Office of the State Engineer. The continuing education credit hours shall relate to well drilling. The continuing education requirements are waived for the renewal of a license or registration that expires in 2006. For the renewal of a license or registration that expires in 2007, the continuing education requirements have been reduced to four credit hours.
